A summer love-affair
with shoes

For multitasking footwear that is really cute this summer, look no further than your local chappal shop. Kolhapuris have always been a standard summer wardrobe feature, and for those who think this particular sandal comes with too many pretentious-artist connotations - think again. Would a pretentious artiste really want to actually wear something that is pretty to look at? Luckily this season, along with the usual plain leather kolhapuris, and the regular gold/silver thread ones, we have iridescent leather versions, and if you’re willing to shell out more cash, Khaadi has a pretty solid gold kolhapuri as well as funkier turquoise and tangerine ones too.

This year, khussas have made a comeback too, and local shops have brought back old favourites as well as updated takes on traditional khussa embellishment. If you are so inclined, khussas work just as well with jeans as they do with your chooridar, and the updated versions have cushioned insoles which will definitely be a blessing for people who like flats but wish for more support and comfort.

The stores at Uzma Plaza in Karachi also carry flip flop versions with similar work as well as a pretty new design featuring an embroidered bird. All this for Rs 300-Rs 750 seems like an absolute steal only because it is!
