Va va voom: Red lipstick

Red lipstick may be associated in our part of the world with vamps from Bollywood films but we can put that stereotype to rest this summer and embrace red for all its glory. But how does one wear it? Cosmetic brand Lipstick Queen creator Poppy King told the Independent:
"For a bold, fresh look, wear red lipstick with minimal make-up. Even out your skin with a base or luminiser to get it looking even but natural, then apply mascara, very little liner or eyeshadow, a smidgen of blush on the apples of the cheeks, not horrible stripes, for that country picnic look.
Straight from the tube is the best way to apply lipstick, then blot once and reapply. Dabbing a tiny bit on your cheek is a fabulous way to tie your whole look together, even if you use your usual blush. Look for a red that is as true as possible and doesn’t go orange or pink."
Red lipstick isn’t for the very fair, but looks best on golden tanned skin…complexions we’re all sporting after vacations or after foraying out into the the brutal summer sun here in Pakistan. Summer is all about colour and nothing makes a |

statement more than red: as Angelina Jolie proved when she stepped out onto the Cannes red carpet, battling rumours of a separation with Brad Pitt in bright red lipstick. MAC and Luscious both have some fantastic red shades that would be perfect for your look. |
