Celebrity Playlist
Monsoons bring out the best in music romance; here’s what some of our celebrities are listening to as rainclouds loom over us...

Fawad Khan
Actor/ Musician (EP)

"I’m listening to Radiohead’s album In Rainbows. But mostly I listen to whatever is on the radio because I kind of don’t really make an effort to listen to something after a recording session."

In Rainbows is Radiohead’s seventh studio album - the band worked on it for two years and the album reached number one in the UK and Billboard charts days after its release. In Rainbows won Grammys for Best Limited Edition Package and Best Alternative Rock Album.

Abbas Premjee

"I’m listening to ‘Rain Song’ by Led Zeppelin, I was listening to it yesterday. I’m also listening to Al Stewart from the seventies. These days, I’m going back in time and listening to a lot of music from the seventies."

The love ballad ‘Rain Song’ is from Led Zeppelin’s fifth album Houses of the Holy. Al Stewart is known for his historical folk-rock songs - the biggest hit he has produced is ‘Year of the Cat’ from the album Year of the Cat.

Freiha Altaf
Event Manager

"Beyonce. I’m listening to the latest slow song by Beyonce - it is called ‘Halo’. Also, I really like The Fray. My children have been listening to the band and now I’m hooked on as well. And I’m listening to Michael Jackson of course."

‘Halo’ is a mellow ballad by Beyonce from her latest album I Am Sasha Fierce. The Fray’s claim to fame is their hit single ‘How to Save a Life’ which was featured on the soundtrack of the hit television series Grey’s Anatomy and also featured on the score for Scrubs and One Tree Hill. And of course, after Michael Jackson’s demise, everyone’s listening to him again.

Faisal Kapadia
Musician (Strings)

"I’m listening to ‘Use Somebody’ by Kings of Leon and ‘Lovers in Japan’ by Coldplay. I’m also listening to the soundtrack of Twilight. I also make a conscious effort to listen to Michael Jackson to bring back the memories."

Alternative rock band Kings of Leon won Best International Band and Best International Album at the Brit Awards, where they performed ‘Use Somebody’ - one of the many hits the band has so far produced.

Ehtesham
Musician (Azal)

"I’m listening to old and classic songs these days- I’m listening to Foreigner’s ‘I’ll Fight For You’ and the other song I’m listening to is ‘Communication Breakdown’ by Led Zeppelin. And in this rain, I’m listening to a song by this cheap Indian personality! His name is Anu Malik and the song is ‘Dekho Baarish Horahi Hai... Its Raining Its Raining’!"

Foreigner has sold over fifty million copies worldwide- the band’s first album, titled

Foreigner, stayed in the list of the top twenty for a year. ‘Dekho Baarish Horahi Hai’ is a track from Anu Malik’s solo album - and yes this inane song is definitely worth listening to for the catchy stupidity of it!
