Everyone's been there, but this isn't the end of the world as you

find their way to your playlist - and will become your first step
to kick-start yourself (and your life) in high gear! |

| 'I
Will Survive' - Gloria Gaynor |
No
post-breakup playlist be complete without the classic 'I will
survive'. Thirty after its release; it is still one of those
songs that can get a roomful of women dancing in a frenzy or
singing madly at a karaoke bar. And rightly so - Gloria's mix
of disco combined with anthem like lyrics has captured the feelings
of countless post-breakup women down to a t. The song was also
featured on an episode of Ally McBeal; with Gloria singing the
song to Ally to get her to stop feeling so blue. And proof of
the song's classic factor are the words; which are incredibly
catchy and a must-memorize; whether you're going through a breakup
or not!

"It
took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
And I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
And you see me, somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you" |

| 'Take
a bow' - Rihanna |
Rihanna
joined the list of producing breakup songs with 'Take a Bow'
and managed to sweep away a gong for favorite female artist
this year.
And since 'Take a Bow' focuses on what to do after a breakup,
it's unlike the usual hip-hop and upbeat Rihanna tracks. It's
nothing like 'Umbrella' or 'Please Don't Stop The Music'. In
'Take a Bow', Rihanna tells her lover to run along to someone
else as she is over and done with him.
This is a must listen for all those heart broken people out
there (as cheesy as that sounds!) |

| 'Irreplaceable'
- Beyonce |
Beyonce
kicks her man out of the door in this one! 'Irreplaceable' is
about throwing your devotee out of the house and making sure
he knows there are others who can take up his slot.
The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for four weeks -
and received massive airplay because of its catchy lyrics and
melody. 'Irreplaceable' is proof of a perfect breakup song;
the vocals are fuming, the music is soft and the lyrics make
one actually want to throw their men out the door! The video
shows Beyonce standing on her entrance with boxes of her boyfriend's
possessions on the floor outside the house. The song's definitely
a must download for anyone who's looking at a musical way to
lick one's wounds |

| 'Get
Out' - Jojo |
Singer/songwriter/actress
Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque, better known as Jojo, came
out with her platinum certified debut single 'Leave (Get Out)'
and made waves on television channels. The song revolves around
Jojo dumping her man after finding out she has been cheated
on.
Being inspired by Beyonce, Jojo does have the 'Beyonce' factor
in her songs and even though she doesn't sound like the singer,
she definetly will be making it to the A-list of female pop
after producing hits like 'Baby It's You', 'Not That Kinda Girl'
and 'Too Little Too Late'. And though Jojo needs to work harder
to get there, 'Leave (Get Out)' really isn't that bad a song
and should be downloaded. |

'Fifty
Ways to Leave Your Lover'
- Paul Simon |
A
classic breakup song by Paul Simon, this one was written after
the singer went through a divorce and is a humorous way of looking
at a breakup.
From the album Still Crazy After All These Years, 'Fifty Ways
To Leave Your Lover' is on the hit list of the breakup songs
of all time. Adam Sandler reworked this song with an even more
humorous one 'Fifty Ways To Get Bin Laden'.
With
slow paced drumming, this song has a haunting feel to it and
at the same time, is peaceful which is rather unlikely, considering
most break up songs are fierce and furious. Paul Simon, in this
song, goes on to say there must be fifty ways to leave your
lover, though he hasn't really pointed them out as to him, they
are all in the head. |

| 'Cry
For You' - September |
|
The beauty of 'Cry For
You' is that it's more of a trance song and makes one want to jump
and dance instead of hiding under the covers! This dance meets trance
meets pop track rested on the top-notch position of Billboard Hot
Dance Airplay for three weeks. Swedish singer September sings to the
hip beat about how the man who broke her heart wont be seeing her
again and neither is there going to be another who would cry for him.
'Cry For You' is about not having to leave but wanting to.
The lyrics are your regular breakup song type, nothing like 'Fifty
Ways To Leave Your Lover'. But this one did make it on number six
in the French Singles Chart and on number fourteen in Australia, all
thanks to September's powerful vocals and the hasty music.
