| It may seem like a revivalist
trend back from the '80s, but it comes with a definitely higher style
quotient. This season looks to be a supersized winter; with voluminous
sweaters, sweater dresses and statement jewellery all back in vogue.
The big bag has made a return as well, and it doesn't come in a dull
black or beige as it did before. Mahin Hussain's fall/winter accessories
collection primarily focused on large bags in a palette as varied
as dull yellow to forest green. Street markets are full of bracelets
in every colour and texture (including wood) - and even one of these
faux jewel delights is enough to brighten up an outfit. And that isn't
the only thing that's been upsized: patterns are getting big too.
Deepak Perwani's fall/winter collection featured large, diamond shaped
patterns on fitted eveningwear outfits. Meanwhile, the sweaters and
coats this season are bigger, bolder and come in all colours of the
rainbow, which marks a delightful change from the drab colours that
winter wear is usually associated with here. Even shalwars are set
to be oversized this season, judging from couturier Bunto Kazmi pairing
dhoti shalwars with bustier tops and Sonya Battla's line of shalwars.
This winter, it's all about being big, bold and beautiful - so grab
a few of these oversized pieces, walk out with a spring in your step
and enjoy the winter wonderland. |
