Scarf it up

In a year
where the keffeiyah has moved from being a political statement
to a fashion one, never have scarves been so popular. It is
the season to bundle up, and what better way to keep warm and
be stylish than with a scarf. Tie it around your neck in a variety
of different ways (for the uninitiated, there are several YouTube
videos that demonstrate the art of scarf tying) or wrap it around
your head, turban style or as a fashionable change from the
usual headscarf. Along with regular scarves, pashminas, keffeiyahs,
shawls and stoles all do the trick.
This is definitely the season to get innovative with scarves,
and playing around with fabrics. Take a cue from Katie Holmes,
who is a fan of the polka dot scarf from H&M's collaboration
with Commes des Garcon.

| You can opt to
buy scarves from the high-end retailers, but if you don't want to
splurge, opt for the cheaper pashminas or fashion your own (and for
the truly dedicated, knit away!) Scarves are available everywhere
from downtown markets and even inside shrines (we kid you not!). Whether
you wrap them around your neck or drape them on a turtleneck –
scarves are a must-have this season! |
