FASHION UPDATE
What about Bob?
|
|
Long,
tussled tresses have dominated in recent seasons, but those days are
over. People are swinging in the opposite direction, embracing sleek,
shorter styles.
The bob is back in a big way, and it's been updated for the 21st century.
Rihanna, Katie Holmes and even Bipasha Basu have made the good old
hair trend look pretty.
The bob has been personalized and a twist on the classic, blunt style.
First introduced in the 1920s, and reinvigorated in the '60s by hair
legend Vidal Sassoon, the bob's seen myriad twists over the years
and can fall anywhere from the ear to the shoulder.
Today's look energizes the classic, one-length style, updating it
with edgy angles and a graduated shape.
The cut is so popular that it's poised to overtake even "the
Rachel," the shaggy, layered style made popular in the 1990s
by Jennifer Aniston on the hit comedy Friends.
The type of bob popular today works on a variety of hair types for
it's stacked shorter in the back, "the angle gives everyone lift
and fullness, think Rihinna. Even though it's short, it still feels
like you have a lot of hair.
