Hotsteppers
of the week
Ali Azmat and Zeeshan Parwez

Pakistani
musicians are taking the lead in translating what is happening
in the world to our television screens via their art. Ali
Azmat's recent video for 'Tanha Hai Kyoun' has kicked off
the year with its stark yet completely 'out-there' visuals.
'Tanha Hai Kyoun' sees Ali teaming up with the talented Zeeshan
Parwez, who directed Ali's videos for 'Teri Parchaiyan' and
'Gallan'. And this combination has culminated in a video that
talks about everything from conspiracy theories, war, media,
hope and despair. The second visual offering from Ali's sophomore
solo record Klashinfolk, 'Tanha Hai Kyoun' forces one to sit
up and think |

about the theories behind everything in the world, whether it is food
crises or climate change, with a sarcastic spin that has become Ali's
hallmark. Zeeshan used old foreign footage, spliced in with shots
of Ali and Omran Shafique, to create this interesting video that definitely
makes one stop between channel surfing. While the video may be stark
and end with an ominous shot of a mushroom cloud signifying a nuclear
holocaust, it will be one of the most memorable videos of the year
that has only just begun! Kudos to our hotsteppers ofthe week, Ali
Azmat and Zeeshan Parwez, for conspiring together on this conspiracy
laded video! |
