1.'Armaan'
Siege

For a debut single, Siege couldn't have picked a better song to launch themselves on the local music scene. Because 'Armaan' is one of the most interesting tunes to come out in the recent times. With its simple melody, energetic singing and a sound, which works solely on the shoulders of accoustic guitars and percussion, 'Armaan' simply rocks. Lyrically, it is a simple song as it goes, "Armaan Dil Key Jaaney Kyun Puray Na Huwe/Ankhon Sey Tum Na Jaaney Kyun Door Hogaye/Na Jaane Kyun" And it should be said that the video for this song is simply adorable. One sees the four band members sitting in a circle with their respective instruments. In the middle, one sees the direction being stopped and one member, Ehsan Pervaiz tells the rest of the band that it is a sad song and they should look 'sad' but Siege continues anyway. It gave a rather sweet touch to the video. The good thing about Armaan is that as a song all age groups, not just youngsters, can listen it to.

Siege are Junaid Younis (Vocals) Ehsan Pervaiz (Lead Guitars/Vocals), Fahad Pervaiz (Rhythm Guitars) and Farhan Mirza (Percussion). So far, 'Armaan' is their only video out but it certainly isn't the last. The band has another video coming out soon that has been directed by Tariq Amin. According to the band, an album is currently underway and should be out soon. Until then, go download, 'Armaan'.

2. 'Bolo Bolo'
EP

EP's cover version of Sajjad Ali's hit track, 'Bolo Bolo' is simply rock riot. Unlike the slow pace of the original, this one is a guitar-heavy number from the now defunct rock band EP. Where Sajjad Ali provided sweet vocals to this number, Fawad Afzal Khan delivers harsh vocals reminiscent of Scott Stapp and Chris Cornell as he croons, "Meri gari dekhi/Ya mera bangla dekha/Ya mera sara bank balance dekha/Mere sapne dekhe/Na mera jazba dekha/Na mera toota hoa dil dekhaaa/Tumhe pyaar mujh se nahin hai/Pyaar mujh se nahin hai/Pyaaar mujh se nahin hai/Mein tum se door chala jaoon /Ya paas chala aoon /Ikrar tum se nahin hai." Where Fawad shines on vocals, Xulfi creates rock menace with his high electrical riffs and is complimented throughout by the rest of the band on rhythm guitars and drums. A clean version of the song remains unavailable but a live version by EP when they first started out is available on the internet. So download it now!

3. 'Karma Police'
Radiohead

'Karma Police' remains the second biggest hit of Radiohead after monster hit 'Creep'. From their breakthrough record Ok Computer, 'Karma Police' is a simple, melancholic number that slowly grows on you. Lyrically somewhat strange and slightly morbid as it goes, "Karma police, arrest this man, he talks in maths/He buzzes like a fridge, he's like a detuned radio/Karma police, arrest this girl, her Hitler hairdo is making me feel ill/And we have crashed her party/This is what you get, this is what you get/This is what you get, when you mess with us", it was this song that led critics to compare Radiohead with The Beatles. According to Radiohead front man Thom Yorke, Karma Police is "for someone who has to work for a large company. This is a song against bosses." The song is also targeted towards judgmental people. For the uninformed, there are four different lyrical versions to this song that Thom Yoke belts out on live shows. It was with Ok Computer that Radiohead reached an unprecedented level of fame outside of United Kingdom and today are considered pioneers of the

'alternative' genre. In 2003, Christopher O'Riley covered 'Karma Police' on his first Radiohead tribute album True Love Waits: Christopher O'Riley Plays Radiohead. Another interesting cover came out from prog-rock band Panic! At The Disco in their live shows. For the last two years, Radiohead have been working on their seventh studio record and strangely enough, they have no record deal till now. After finishing their six-album contract with EMI, the band has yet to get another offer. So until the new record releases, do check out, 'Karma Police'. It really is a great Radiohead moment.
