Moments that made the Lux Style Awards special
There are certain moments that define a show and go down in history as magic. This year at the 6th Lux Style Awards, the evening may have belonged to music, but without the power packed performances and the mild punches of comedy, that music may have carried a different tune!

By Aamna Haider Isani

Ali Azmat gets cheeky with the fashion industry, comes out with punchlines that punched and becomes the best LSA host ever!

From his presence on stage to his bedroom that became the hottest party zone every night, Ali Azmat made sure that Pakistanis didn't fall short of entertainment in Malaysia.

While Momi Rana brought Lollywood glamour to the show, it was rock star Ali who brought the house down with his tongue in cheek humour. He was the perfect host the Lux Style Awards could have hoped for. Ali ensured that things never got boring and the best thing was, it came naturally to him.

"Yeah, scream for me girls," he shouted as he walked up on stage to the roar of squealing fans. "Good evening ladies and gentlemen," he began with a touch of melodrama… "and …designers."
Ali didn't sing but he sure did perform that night. He improvised where he needed to, straying away from the script every now and then.

"Yes, Saqib Malik is a great director," he spoke of the man who had directed his 'Na Re Na' video. "Meera is right. He never compromises on standards of excellence," he said, and added after a suspenseful pause, "…but he compromises otherwise!"

Making frequent digs at the fashion industry at large, he showed solidarity for his fellow 'bald men' when Hassan Sheheryar Yasin stepped up to collect the award for Best Couture.
"It's a pleasure when another bald man wins an award," he said. "Pappu, this is for you too man," Ali added, addressing the Mekaal Hasan Band flutist.

The moments never stopped and Ali Azmat ensured everyone a great time at the awards. When Aaminah Haq and Ammar Belal stepped up on stage, Ainee commented on how beautiful Aaminah is and Ali, being his usual self said: "Oh yeah, she sure is. But I still think Ammar is prettier."

His humour paused for pure adulation only when Vinnie stepped up and as he showered her with praises and the audience applauded the moment, she smiled and asked the crowd, "You guys are having a blast aren't you?"

The punches Ali took at everyone else were non-stop. He mocked Ainee's British accent and told Iman that now every little girl in Pakistan would be calling her father 'daddy' in the same British accent as her character Mary had in Khuda Kay Liye.

To divide the show between different hosts was a brilliant idea and between Moamar Rana, Reema and Ali Azmat, Ainee, there wasn't a single dull moment at the 6th annual Lux Style Awards.
