Hotstepper of the week
Ali Zafar

We all know Ali Zafar for his Kishore Kumar style vocals and that fun element that has us hooked. But tonight when the third episode of Coke Studio goes on air with Ali Zafar and Tufail Ahmed, everyone is in for a delightful surprise.

There are few pop stars who have a voice as deep and beautiful as Ali Z.
At Rohail Hyatt's magnum opus project, Ali Z brought the house down and proved once again why he remains such a bright talent.

Whether it was 'Channo', 'Rangeen' 'Chal Dil Meray or 'Jaane Na Koi', Ali weaved magic with his voice.
And when he performed 'Allah Hoo' from Khuda Kay Liye with Tufail Ahmed, we were stunned by this young singer whose vocals not only matched Tufail but truly showed what a powerhouse talent he really is.

Zeeshan Parwez who was on turntables and synthesizers told Instep that one of his favorite performances at Coke Studio was Ali Zafar. And we have to agree with Zeeshan here.

This was a rare occasion where once saw Ali Zafar with some of the most seasoned players in Pakistan – Gumby, Omran Shafique, Zeeshan Parwez, Kamran Zafar – and to top it all off, there were the thumping sounds of Eastern drums, thanks to the Abdul Lateef and his band of lewa players. And through it all, Ali Z kept the momentum alive.

And so this week, we pick Ali Zafar as Instep's Hotstepper of the week. Do watch out for him tonight.
