Hotstepper of the week Tariq Amin

Creativity and eccentricity come hand in hand and that applies to no one as much as it does to Tariq Amin. Celebrating 25 years in the business - pioneering cutting edge style in more ways than one would think possible - he recently inaugurated a bigger and much brighter work space than the one he has been inhabiting in the Pearl Continental for the past decade or so. His new salon, for that one celebratory evening, was decorated in images representing the many looks of Tariq Amin, from the different avatars he has adapted for music videos to the many moulds and masques he has constructed around himself needlessly. And while it was all incredibly self centered, one couldn't help but realize that to one man who could do so much for his own face, playing around with other peoples' images could be nothing short of second nature.

That is exactly what Tariq Amin has proven year after year: the ease with which style comes to him and the ease with which he brushes it off on everything that comes his way. He has styled fashion shows, award shows as easily as award winning music videos. Ali Zafar's 'Channo', Fuzon's 'Khamaaj', Zeb & Haniya's 'Aitebaar' and Abbas Ali Khan's 'Malaal' as well as 'Sun Re' are just a couple of examples. And how can one forget The Beginning, which was Awaz's 'Mr Fraudiay', the song that created the genius that Tariq Amin was to become.

It was hardly surprising that the industry's brightest stars flocked to share the moment with him. From Faisal Kapadia (Strings), Ali Azmat, Moammar Rana, Amin Gulgee, Shakila and Sajid Hassan as well as the better part of the fashion industry including Amean J, Tapu Javeri, Maheen Karim, Sanam Agha, Feeha Jamshed and Adnan Pardesy amongst others, Tariq's "well wishers" in his own words came to wish him an even brighter future.
For being the epicenter of style in Pakistan's fashion industry for 25 very solid years and for being one of a kind, Tariq Amin is Instep's Hotstepper this week.

Look out for the full coverage of Tariq's new salon opening in Instep Today.
