No, we’re not talking about the Amityville house, we’re talking about the world of glamour and stars. All that glitters is definitely not gold! Fans and psychologists alike have had a hard time wondering what happened in these cases? What lead these celebs to take the ultimate step? You can wonder ‘why’ forever and so these deaths have opened up a Pandora’s Box of controversies and conspiracies. So without further ado, here’s a look into the suicides of some of the most famous celebrities who seem to have it all from around the world.

“Marilyn Monroe found dead! What to blame? Pills, love or the CIA?”

The diva who ruled the hearts of millions! Her death came as one of the biggest shocks to Hollywood, nay - the world! The year was 1962, the 36 year old was found dead at her house in Los Angeles, California.
Monroe was the ultimate sex symbol of Hollywood, who could ever forget her famous sight as her white dress swayed in the air? The diva with the mischievous face is still enough to give any man The Seven Year Itch!  Her films such as Gentleman Prefer Blondes,   River of No Return    Some like It Hot and The Misfits are still considered some of the best films of classic Hollywood!

The autopsy found the reason of death to be, acute barbiturate     poisoning which in layman’s tems would be an attempted drug overdose. There were several theories that caught speed after her death, the hottest of which was CIA involvement thanks to her romantic link ups with ‘Mr. President’ JFK himself... and his brother Bobby too...Who could ever forget Marilyn singing ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ in a seductive, husky voice for Mr. JFK? Throw in the fact that Marilyn and the Kennedys also mixed and partied with the gangsters of the time, till John and Bobby had to pull away thanks to their stature and you can still come up with a million more conspiracy theories. And so Marilyn Monroe lives a gorgeous candle in the wind, frozen in time like everyone who dies young...

“Jiah Khan found hanging by her fan! Suicide letter blames lover.”

Her suicide is the latest addition to the list, and it is still making headlines all over. This sensual actress debuted in 2007 with Ram Gopal Verma's     Nishabd         for which she was nominated for    Filmfare’s Best Female Debut Award. The actress at the time seemed a lady with an edgy attitude, who could glare her rivals down, yet with time she disappeared from the public eye as a front runner.

Jiah was later noted for portraying modern, independent women in       Ghajini which was the highest-grossing Bollywood films        of 2008 but she had a side role and then in another big grosser Housefull, she had a very sidelined role.

On 3 June 2013, she was found dead in her apartment in her residence in the Sagar Sangeet building in          Juhu,   Mumbai         after hanging herself. She was reportedly in a relationship with Suraj Pancholi (son on Aditya Pancholi) who abused Jiah massively, (as per Jiah Khan’s last letter circulated far and wide by her own mother) and drove Jiah to suicide.

The truth isn’t really so simple. There are plenty of abusers in the world, but really it is someone’s own decision whether they leave the relationship or whether they kill themselves. Jiah was abviously very troubled even though she had been photographed happily partying with friends a few days prior to her suicide. That’s showbusiness for you, you can be falling apart inside but you go out with the picture perfect face.

“Rafi Khawar commits suicide... Leaves everything to a dancing girl of Lahore.”

No one knows him by his real name but once ‘Nanha’ comes into the picture, there is hardly any Lollywood  or old PTV drama fanatic who doesn’t remember him! Nanha was one of the most reputed comedians from our turf, whose comedy can never be matched and who became the darling of the nation as the Noon to Kamal Ahmed Rizvi’s wily Alif in Alif Noon. Later his films such as Dubai Chalo and Insaniyat were hailed as super-duper hits coming from Pakistan.

Nanha was acknowledged to be involved in an affair with a dancing girl from Lahore called Nazli. For mysterious reasons the affair came apart and Nanha got so ‘dejected’ he decided to end his life by shooting himself with a shotgun in Lahore on June 2, 1986.

Though, the actual reason of his death remains a mystery as no blood was found in the room where he died, yet he had a gun in his hand! What is even more interesting? All of his property was given to Nazli according to his will... life is stranger than fiction...

“Superstar Divya Bharti falls from her fifth floor apartment! Dead or murdered?”

The Saat Samundar Paar glam doll is hard to forget! At a remarkably young age, Divya Bharti joined the Bollywood film industry and instantly won hearts and minds. Her films like Vishvatma, Deewana (incidentally SRK’s first big hit) and Shola aur Shabnam were commercial successes which made her a household name.
Unfortunately, her career was cut short at the age of 19, as she fell to her death from her 5th floor apartment! Her death to this date remains a mystery as no one knows if it was an apparent suicide or if she was pushed off the balcony.  Her husband, the famous director Sajid Nadiadwala, has been blamed several times for her death, yet nothing was ever proved against him. While Jiah Khan’s career wasn’t doing well, Divya Bharti had the world at her feet. In her short but brilliant career, she had become so famous that Divya is still immortalized in Iran as a beauty queen – her portraits can be found along side Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan in art shops across Iran!

“Love claims another life! Guru Dutt ends his life. Who’s repsonsible: Drugs, box office blues or Waheeda?”

Names do not get bigger than Guru Dutt! His charismatic personality, his films and his keen intellect are yet to be matched in the industry. His films were often avant garde (ahead of their time) and so universal that you will be blown away even if you see them today. He struggled to do well at the box office, yet his acting and persona made him an instant success, in a very different way fom the lovable Raj Kapoor and charming Dev Anand. Guru Dutt made quintessential 1950s and 1960s classics such as Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam and Chaudhvin Ka Chand. In particular, Pyaasa and Kaagaz Ke Phool are now included among the greatest films of all time, both by Time magazine's "All-TIME 100 best movies”.

Dutt’s life and a stupendous career in Bollywood ended as he breathed his last in 1964. Guru Dutt was found dead in his bed in his rented apartment at Pedder Road in Mumbai. He is said to have been mixing alcohol and sleeping pills. His death may have been suicide, or just an accidental overdose, yet, it would have been his third suicide attempt. Many mysteries shrouded his death, but his involvement with Waheeda Rehman topped the charts. It sells papers but it is far-fetched. Guru Dutt was intense and it’s more likely that Kaagaz Ke Phool, the most ambitious film he ever made, not doing well at the box office took its toll.

“With a gun to his mouth, Kurt found dead! Suicide letter addressed to Boddah, an imaginary friend!”

A day does not go by, in the world of rock when Kurt Cobain isn’t remembered. It may sound like an exaggeration yet Nirvana is still hailed as one of the best bands of the globe!

Cobain formed Nirvana with Krist Novoselic         in       Aberdeen, Washington         in 1985 and established it as part of the Seattle music scene, having its debut album         Bleach released on the independent record label    Sub Pop        in 1989. And in the 1990s Nirvana struck gold with ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ that put the band firmly on the map as it defined the grunge generation.

During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin dependence, illness and depression. He also had difficulty coping with his fame and public image, and the professional and lifelong personal pressures surrounding himself and his wife, musician Courtney Love.

On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle, the victim of what was officially ruled a suicide by a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. The circumstances of his death at age 27 have become a topic of public fascination and debate. How could have it not been a topic of debate? The star literally put a gun in his own mouth, and shot himself!

What was even more bizarre? Kurt left a note, addressed to a childhood imaginary friend "Boddah", that stated that Cobain hadn't "felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing . . . for too many years now." Now that’s called taking your creativity seriously...
