Asha
and Bret - the saga continues |
| |
Asha
Bhonsle wants to team up with Bret Lee again on her next album after
the success of their song 'You're the one for me' which was recorded
last year when Lee was in the subcontinent for a cricket trip. The
video of the song features handsome Bret Lee trying to woo the heart
of a young woman by singing and playing the guitar for her while Asha
teaches Lee how to speak in Hindi. The video was extremely delightful
to say the least and seemed to have done well because on-screen, Bhonsle
and Lee have managed to look so cute and endearing (and the concept
in itself was so unusual) that many took to it.
In an interview the 73 year old crooner, Bhonsle, was reported to
have stated "Brett is a really great guy. I really had fun with
him and I look forward to doing another song with him again."

Song
for a cause |
| |
|
Joining hands
for a cause, our musicians say no to terrorism in a song called
'Yeh hum naheen' featuring big-gun musicians such as Haroon, Ali
Haider, Strings, Hadiqa Kiyani, Ali Zafar and Shafqat Amanat Ali.
The video for the song is extremely simple as it depicts everyday
folk on the street singing to the song's chorus accompanied by shots
of the musicians gathered in a circle and singing. The idea and
message of the song is clear - that the portrayal of Muslims as
terrorists is unjust and incorrect. The idea for 'Yeh hum naheen'
was that of Waseem Mahmood's, a media consultant, who thought a
project such as this one was direly needed at a time when common
Western perceptions about Muslims were flawed and biased. Produced
by Shuja Haider with simple yet hard-hitting lyrics by Ali Moeen,
'Yeh hum naheen' is an extremely laudable effort. Thumbs up to the
entire team and musicians!

| Sanjay
Dutt to star in a rock video |
| |
|
| Sanjay
Dutt is all set to feature in a rock music video called 'Sheeshe mein
main' directed by Sanjay Gupta (of 'Kaante' fame). The deal speaks
of a whopping five million (for the video alone) and the song's composer,
Anand Raj Anand was quoted to have said, "Sanjay has a great
sense of music. The way he reacts to a song shows how much he understands
the minuteness of instrumentation. It makes the music director very
happy". Sanjay Dutt's ruggedness coupled with his brilliant acting,
makes him a dream come true for music videos especially if the songs
follow along the lines of rock genres. His recent projects include
an appearance in Strings' video 'Zinda hoon' and a duet with Asha
Bhonsle in her latest album 'Asha and friends'. |

| Police
reunite! |
| |
|
| After
disbanding in the 80s, reunited rock superstars, Police, are to begin
their world tour beginning from the 28th of May, 2007 onwards. The
group (namely Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland) will be holding
concerts in a plethora of countries across the map such as South America,
Japan, Australia, Europe and New Zealand. The band will be playing
their original hits rather than songs from Sting's solo work and when
questioned as to whether the world tour would lead to recording a
new album, the band was equivocal. Still, Police being reunited for
a world tour is extremely exciting news as older bands seldom come
together to work on projects after decades of embarking on solo careers.
The tour is bound to be a major sell-out as it's already creating
waves of anticipation ripple throughout the globe. |
