Chen One, Bareeze and other retail stores to designer labels like
Amir Adnan and Maria B, it seems to be the best time to save a penny.
Stores are getting rid of winter stocks. It seems like shopper's
paradise to the inexperienced eye but you need to beware when stepping
out to shop at sales. Sales are a trap that lure the naive into
buying what they would never, ever wear, discount or not. You'd
probably be tempted to pick up a heavily sequined black halter top
that oozes glamour in the shop, but when you bring it back home
it may be nothing more than plain tacky. Make sure what you're buying
reflects your true style. Secondly, make sure you don't pick up
highly stylized items that define certain trends and will seem 'so
last century' when you wear them several months later. 2006's metallic
tops will seem painfully outdated when tweeds and

takeover in winter 2007. Go for items that are versatile like simple
sweaters and tops in plain colors. Third, be sure you have a price
yardstick to compare the discounted prices with. Pakistani sales are
infamous for taking tags up and then knocking them down to make the
discount seem astronomical. Don't be fooled. Last, always check for
tears, missing buttons and jammed zippers. Remember, items bought
at sales are not returnable and if you buy the wrong thing, your money
'saved' will be money 'down the drain' instead! |
