Amar
Singh to avenge SRK
|
|
Samajwadi
Party General Secretary Amar Singh (the rather greasy looking pot
bellied politician who accompanies the Bachchans everywhere) has told
media persons that he would publicly humiliate King Khan for his 'crude
joke' against him at the recent Filmfare Awards. There, Shah Rukh
Khan, who was hosting the show took a dig at Amar Singh saying that
he saw 'darindagi' (carnivore) in his eyes. Shah Rukh apologised after
the function and said that whatever he had said was in good humour,
but apparently Amar Singh doesn't have a sense of humour. "I
found more 'darindagi' in his language than in my eyes," said
Singh. "I will also humiliate him publicly someday and then apologise
to him and say that it was said in black humour," Singh said.
This is not the first time that duo have had a spat in public. In
2004, during the Zee Awards in Dubai, Singh and Khan got into a heated
exchange. Singh, who calls Amitabh Bachchan his brother, felt that
it was not appropriate for the organisers to give Big B a sitting
arrangement on the 12th row. The function was organised by a close
friend of Shah Rukh's. Singh and Shah Rukh, however, patched up later
at a Holi function organised by Bachchans at their home in Mumbai.
However, with rumours of the widening gulf between the Bachchans and
the Khans, one doubts that this opportunity will come again. Oh well,
we all know whose side we are on! |

Goody
two shoes in India |
|
Jade Goody, who triggered
a racism row on the recent British reality TV show Celebrity Big
Brother, donated US$50,000 to an Indian charity that cares for children
who run away from their homes. Goody spent nearly 90 minutes with
some of the children at the Anubhav (Experience) Charity in the
Indian capital. "I am not giving the money to improve my image.
It is to improve the lives of the underprivileged children,"
she told reporters. Goody outraged the public and sparked allegations
of racism after she bad-mouthed Shetty's cooking of Indian food
and mocked her accent after which she was evicted from the show
by the British. After the British public voted to evict Goody from
the reality TV show in January, she insisted that she was not racist.
A week ago in India, Goody said she was donating whatever she earned
from appearing on the TV show and subsequent media interviews. "Seeing
the pain of these children put everything into perspective and made
me think that the problem I might have at home is nothing in comparison
to what these children are going through. It has been an amazing
day," she said. Ironically, while Goody is spending money in
India, Shilpa is making millions in Britain. British celebrity publicist
Max Clifford, hired by Shetty to develop her career in Britain,
has estimated she could earn 1 million pounds next year from new
contracts. She has already launched her own perfume. Shilpa may
as well make the most of her sunny situation as its better than
anything she'll ever achieve in Bollywood.

Shilpa's
out, Jiaah's in |
|
While
Shilpa milks her Big Brother win to the max, Bollywood remains uninterested
in her. Let's face it, even though Princes William and Harry have
just woken up to Shilpa's existence, the big bosses of Bollywood know
that cinematically Shilpa is over, at least as far as the Indian imagination
is concerned. The hottest new thing that everyone is talking about
is Jiaah. Jiaah is Ram Gopal Varma's latest find and promises to be
his biggest contribution to women in Bollywood cinema since he reinvented
a jaded Urmila into a nubile nymphet in Rangeela. Jiaah doesn't just
have the looks but she has the exposure as well. An NRI from London
who is an English literature graduate and a trained Western dancer
too boot, she is Antara Mali without the weirdness, with drop dead
gorgeous looks and very leggy to boot! Making her debut opposite Amitabh,
she is in the limelight, more so because the film she is in is already
raking up controversy. Nishabd is being talked about as Ramu's interpretation
of Russian writer Vladimir Nabokov's controversial novel Lolita, even
though Ramu insists that is not the case. Older man, younger woman
- hey is that really so controversial anymore? |

Kareena
shapes up, but for what? |
|
Those
who saw the 52nd Filmfare Awards Red Carpet must have noticed Kareena
Kapoor in spankingly great shape. After being criticized for her flabby
appearance in Don, Kareena hit the gym and shed weight and though
the dress she wore (designed by none other than Manish Malhotra) was
quite trashy, Kareena unarguably looked fit. After the success of
Omkara, Kareena declared that she would only take up quality roles
but what is this we hear? Reportedly the girl has signed up to perform
another item number, in Kya Love Story Hai. The film will be directed
by debutante director Lovely Singh and will star Tusshar Kapoor and
Ayesha Takia. Has the temptation of flaunting her new body proved
too much for Bebo? The director says she has agreed because the two
have been friends since 2001 and Kareena's just doing it for fun.
Well it's not such a bad idea since the young Kapoor has nothing much
on her plate these days. And if the song turns out to be a sizzler,
Kareena will have one up on her rival, Mallika Sherawat. There still
is no lost love between the two. |

Adoption
mania hits Hollywood |
|
Like a good shepherd, Angelina
Jolie still is on the look out to bring her flock together. Already
a mother to three children born in three different countries, she
has applied to adopt a yet another child from a fourth country with
Brad Pitt. Jolie and Pitt already have three children; five-year-old
Maddox, adopted from Cambodia; 2-year-old daughter Zahara, adopted
from Ethiopia; and another daughter, Shiloh, who was born to the couple
in Namibia in 2006. Earlier this year, Jolie expressed her wish for
a fourth child. "It's, you know, another boy, another girl, which
country, which race would fit best with the kids," she told CNN
in June. The actress has tattoos of the latitude and longitude of
the birthplaces of her three children. Reportedly she is heading for
Vietnam this time and Vu Duc Long, the head of Vietnam's International
Adoption Department, says he had received an application from the
American actress a few days ago asking for "permission"
to adopt. "We consider her like any other American who wants
to adopt children from Vietnam," Vu Duc Long said. "It will
take a few months for us to consider this," he added. While Brangelina
are missing the Oscars to spend quality time with the family, George
Clooney, Hollywood's sexiest man and confirmed bachelor, has announced
that he also wants to follow in their footsteps and adopt a girl.
The catch is that he wants to bring home a wealthy, beautiful 24 year
old just to prove that he can be domesticated. Anyone interested?
