Hotstepper of the week
Maheen Kardar

Karma's expansion through Pakistan takes a new turn as the fashion brand has just launched its Karma flagship store in Karachi, featuring the prêt Pink line as well as couture and bridals. That means that the label has presence in Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad as well as Karachi now. Despite the economic situation affecting the textile and fashion industries in a major way, and one witnessing a slowdown in buying sprees, Karma launched with a glittery opening at Zamzama this week.

While Karma Pink has been available at multi label store The Designers for four years now, Maheen Kardar of Karma wanted to bring a "complete shopping experience" to her clientele with this store. And she seems to have achieved just that. Maheen spoke to Instep and said that Karachi always has been one of her most lucrative market. And one has witnessed the Karma craze at many weddings here where everyone from the bride to her sisters, cousins and friends swear by the brand.

It is definitely great to see designers still expanding despite the economic crunch and looking at their operations from a business perspective. Maheen Kardar is Instep's hotstepper of the week for taking a fashionable foot forward into Karachi.
