"I'm
listening to some qawwalis by Manzoor Niazi and Fareed Ayaz.
And I sometimes listen to some Indian songs by AR Rahman,
which have a sufi touch."
Fareed
Ayaz hails from a prestigious qawwal gharana and is an accomplished
singer in classical and traditional music. Over the years,
Fareed's troupe has performed on both national and international
grounds - UK, USA, Germany, Nepal, Italy, Austria, Indian,
Egypt, Turkey and the UAE whereas Manzoor Niazi is also
a renowned qawwali singer.
Indian composer A.R. Rehman has produced many award-winning
albums such as the soundtracks of Dil Se, Rang De Basanti
and Taal to name a few. A.R. Rahman has won two Oscars,
one BAFTA and one Golden Globe award for his work on Slumdog
Millionaire.

"I really haven't been listening
to a lot of music - I've been touring Multan and Hyderabad.
The only songs I've heard recently are from Maroon 5's latest
album It Won't Be Soon Before Long, and I'd never heard
Maroon 5 before but somebody introduced them to me recently
and played the album on repeat. The song that I do remember
is 'If I Never See Your Face Again.'
Shehzad
is slated to release his next video 'Qismat Apney Haat Mein'
within a month, the follow-up to the highly successful tongue-in-cheek
video for 'Laga Reh'. 'Qismat..' will also see Shehzad teaming
up with director Ahsan Rahim again.
'If I Never See Your Face Again' saw Maroon 5 collaborating
with the hit pop star Rihanna on its remix. Rihanna said she
was "honoured" to be approached by Maroon 5, one
of her favorite bands, had always wanted to work with them.

"I'm
listening to all the acts rehearsing for Coke Studio! That's
all the music in my life these days! Before this, I was listening
to a raag by Rashid Khan called 'Raag Malkauns' and Diana
Krall…just very boring stuff, really!"
Rohail
Hyatt's second season of Coke Studio is definitely what we're
waiting to see in action, and one waits in anticipation to
hear what acts have been signed on to be part of the show
this year.
Last
year's edition saw acts such as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Strings,
Ali Azmat and Ali Zafar perform and we wonder who will top
those acts this year. |

| "I've
been listening to Coldplay. Not one particular album but a
lot of their records. I really like their single, 'Viva La
Vida Or Death and All His Friends.' But my all time favourite
Coldplay song is 'Fix You' off their record X & Y."
British
rock band Coldplay has four albums to their credit. The single
'Fix You' from their album X&Y is one of their most famous
tunes to date.
Their last studio album Viva La Vida or Death and All His
Friends received positive reviews from critics around the
world. Earlier this month, Coldplay three Grammy awards for
Best Rock Album for Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends,
Song of the Year and Best Vocal Pop Performance by a Duo or
Group for 'Viva la Vida'. |

"I'm
listening to a lot of pop and rock music. The three songs
that I'm constantly listening to include 'Unwell' by Matchbox
Twenty, 'Hey There Delilah' by Plain White T's and 'Kabhi
Kabhi Aditi Zindagi' off Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na soundtrack."
'Unwell'
is off Matchbox Twenty's album, Mad Season. The hit tune won
the band a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a
Group with Vocal.
'Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi' is from the soundtrack of Jaane
Tu Ya Jaane Na, which released last year. The song was composed
by music director AR Rahman.
'Hey There Delilah' remains the biggest hit scored by Plain
White T's and also got two Grammy Award nominations in the
Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group
with Vocal category. |

"These days, I'm not listening to anything
particular. I'm listening to Rahat Fateh Ali because I'm not
in a hyper mood these days. And if I am, I listen to Ali Azmat!
I also like 'Mahi' from Raaz 2. I like one of the songs in
Luck By Chance; it's called 'Sapno'. I've got the weirdest
music collection ever. It ranges from Jennifer Lopez to R&B
and all sorts of music."
The
nephew of late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
is a highly accomplished singer. Last year he released his
debut solo album, Charkha, which was produced by Rohail Hyatt
and Faisal Rafi.
'Mahi' from Emraan Hashmi's latest flick, Raaz 2, has two
versions to it, the rock version and the pop one. Both are
equally catchy and as haunting as the film, which is a must
see for all horror movie buffs. Together with Raaz 2, Luck
By Chance is also being played in local theatres. |
