This summer, don't be afraid to experiment. If there's
one message we can take away from Barack Obama's presidential campaign
or the Nabila's Changes video - it is that change is the need of
the hour. Reinvent your look this summer and add a touch of drama
and unconventionality to your wardrobe.
Hot
pinks and orange: Orange and pink is the 'it' combination of the
year and while it is often paired together in wedding ensembles;
one rarely sees it in daily wear. Tangerine orange with pale pink
or hot pink with a pale orange will all look great for the scorching
days ahead.
Summer accessories:
Summer shouldn't be about the conventional matchy-matchy jewelled
chappals and bags to go with your lawn outfits. Get out there -
wear jewelled mules and chunky bangles in contrasting colours to
go with your outfits - bright yellow to brighten up an all black
outfit for example.
Play with print:
With geometric prints one of this season's key trends - as evidenced
by Sana and Safinaz using polka dot prints in their lawn collection,
or the black, orange and pink lawn print Sonya Battla that sold
out at her hit debut exhibition, polka dot prints don't have to
be the regular black and white. If you're mixing and matching this
summer - look outside of the regular combinations.
Add a touch
of stage drama to your make up routine. It doesn't have to be about
the kohl and the eyeliner, but play with bright eye shadow to truly
make you stand out. Kabuki makeup - taken from the Kabuki form of
Japanese theatre - shone bright at a spring show at New York Fashion
Week, and its terrific how it can completely reinvent the way you
look. (Just don't go overboard, or you may end up resembling a parrot!)
