The TV show season is back which means plenty of great music by upcoming artists will be featured in the episodes, and old music rediscovered! Here's presenting our pick of the new and old to download this week

Lady Gaga - 'Paparazzi':

'Paparazzi' by Lady Gaga is one of the most fun pop songs to be heard this summer. 'Paparazzi' - obviously as the name goes - is a song that talks about the paparazzi - the cameras flashing and the boy that is the object of her affection. Featured on the Gossip Girl soundtrack as well, 'Paparazzi' is instantly likeable because of the catchy music and everyone's addiction with the world of gossip, intrigue and flashing light bulbs. Take a note of the lyrics (not very imaginative, but hey, its easy listening pop!) 'But this photo of us / It don't have a price / Ready for those flashing lights / 'Cause you know that baby / I'm
your biggest fan / I'll follow you until you love me' As Lady Gaga says on her MySpace page, "On one level it IS about wooing the
paparazzi and wanting fame. But, it's not to be taken completely seriously. It's about everyone's obsession with that idea. But, it's also about wanting a guy to love you and the struggle of whether you can have success or love or both." While the lyrics and funky music really don't go that deep, it's a great song to listen to while heading out for a night on the town.

Motion City Soundtrack - 'Fell in love without you':

'Fell in love without you' by Motion City Soundtrack is a good song - but the acoustic version is a must - download! It has beautiful lyrics, 'Last night I fell in love without you / The coup de grâce that set me off / Would've made for decent fiction' - and so 'Fell in love without you' is the perfect anthem for anyone looking to recuperate from a relationship. The chorus reinforces that even more: 'Every aching wound will cauterize and bruise / In memory of what we used to call in love / And only time will tell if violins will swell / In memory of what we used to call in love' This aching number brings out this deep-felt regret and silent hope of the singer hoping to get over his previous relationship. The original version is a fast paced, rock number but the acoustic version - is very raw and soothing...unless you're in post-breakup throes and will spend the rest of the evening crying your heart out.

Expatriate - 'The Spaces Between':

Expatriate's 'The Spaces Between' is another great download for anyone who enjoys rock/indie music. The band hails from Sydney, Australia and was termed one of the must-watch bands of 2007. 'The Spaces Between' features a guitar and drum solo as the intro, which is very catchy and instantly gets you jiving along. 'I wished upon a shooting star / and thought about the spaces between / two hearts that can never ever let go' are beautiful lyrics and the way the song sounds makes it a far, far better alternative to sitting in bed listening to Celine Dion crying over matters of the heart. The angsty-trying-too-hard-to-be-true 'I truly love you I do'
chorus may make this sound like a love song (and has great karaoke potential), but it is actually a lot more than just that. 'The Spaces Between' is a must download because of how edgy it sounds, as well as the fact that it is one of those songs that grows on you and remains a playlist favorite - which is a feat that few songs can claim to do considering the plethora of music out there.

Coldplay - 'Death will never conquer':

The uber-talented Coldplay, another great doyenne of free music downloads, have put up a new track on their website to download, even as they tour the world showcasing their latest album Vida La Vida or Death and All His Friends. This track, titled 'Death will never conquer' is obviously a rough cut - with only piano music as an accompaniment. It talks about the Grim Reaper and the onset of death in a conversational way, but what's promising is how different, this version at least, sounds from their previous albums. 'If sweet death should ever conquer me / take me down to some place
below' sounds very nonchalant when dealing with such a somber subject but the entire song put together is interesting, to say the least. It also sounds like Coldplay frontman Chris Martin jotted this down in a hurry while he was pondering about the mortality of life and put it up for download but it should be interesting to see how this song turns out to be in the finalized version. In any case, Chris playing the piano is always a treat to listen to!

CLASSIC! U2 - 'Please' (Live from Rotterdam)

To round up this week's downloads - remember the old and download U2's classic track, 'Please' - but do some snooping and get your hands on the live version of the song, performed at a concert in Rotterdam. Featuring excellent guitar and bass work, this version has a raw power that can tear you up and leave you inspired. While the song was made by U2 for the conflict in Northern Ireland, the song is quite apt for the conflict and trouble ridden times we live in. As Bono begs 'Please..get up off your knees now' it is almost painful to think about the emotions that drove U2 to write songs .
about the conflicts in Ireland. 'Please' also had edgy
artwork for its release - the cover, in the same Warhol style of U2's album Pop, had the faces of Irish politicans politicians - Gerry Adams, David Trimble, Ian Paisley, and John Hume

The lyrics: 'September / Streets capsizing / Spilling over / Down the drain / Shards of glass / Splinters like rain / But you could only feel / Your own pain / October / Talk getting nowhere / November / December / Remember / Are we just starting again?' may be the best soundtrack to the new bulletins these days!
