Hotstepper of the week
Sara Shahid

She is as sublime as they come. While most fashion designers are known for their fiery temperament and diva-esque behaviour, Sara Shahid is one of the few who are creative and talented as well as good natured. But that's not why she's hotstepper. Sara Shahid is hotstepper because after the summer break she took last year to look into personal issues that took her away from work, she is back on track and ready to jet set to Dubai for the expansion of her label. Sara will be stocking at multi label fashion retailer Soiree this week adding another city to her network, which was previously limited to Pakistan.

"It has been a proactive and busy summer for Sublime with the launch of our summer collections and Sublime.T. I feel now extending ourselves to Soirée is a natural progression and culmination to Sublime's summer. The clientele in Dubai has always been great which is why I wanted to have a permanent base in the city. Soirée's high end yet accessible fashion ethos and culture is synonymous with Sublime's which makes this relationship instinctive and exciting," the designer stated in her press release for the Soiree launch.

From 1997, when Sara returned to Lahore after acquiring a degree in fashion marketing and design, to 2009 when she has retail presence in three major cities of Pakistan as well as Dubai, Sara has slowly and steadily built upon her label. There have been no solo shows, fireworks or major launches, only quiet and gentle steps forward. Perhaps that is why this five time Lux Style Award nominee is immensely popular but has not yet won an award for her achievements. But we have hope in Sara and the fact that she will make that breakthrough too.
