In case of arrest, future course to be decided by staff: Mir Shakil

BONN: The Chief Executive of the Jang Group, Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, has said if he is arrested by the government, the future line of action would be adopted by newspaper journalists in consultation with Jang Group employees unions.
In an interview to Voice of Germany, he disclosed that we have already issued directions in this regard, and it had been done so for the first time.
Mir Shakil claimed that public reaction on his press conference on Thursday and audio cassette disclosures was historic. He insisted the Jang Group is serving the country and feeding so many people. Therefore, the present tussle is an issue of life and death for the Jang Group, he said.
He said the withholding of the newsprint of Jang Group despite fulfilling all formalities is an open hooliganism.
Mir Shakil challenged if his alleged misdeeds were proven in a court of law, the government may hang him.
Meanwhile, speaking to Voice of Germany, Ehtesab Bureau chief Senator Saif-ur-Rehman and Information Minister Mushahid Hussain regretted Mir Shakil's action on Thursday. Though the government has yet not denied the contents of audio cassette played by Mir Shakil at the Karachi Press Club press conference, it has become the talk of the town, the radio said.
