GTA 6 pre-orders have started showing phenomenal demand for the more expensive Ultimate Edition, with the latest report claiming that 89% of early consumers have opted for the $99.99 variant instead of the $79.99 Standard Edition.
GTA 6 Ultimate Edition dominates pre-orders
As per analytics firm Sensor Tower, cited by GamesIndustry.biz, the Ultimate Edition accounts for around 89% of GTA 6 pre-orders.
A report suggested the figure significantly increases to 90% among Xbox players, underscoring the strong demand for the premium variant.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick previously confirmed that the Ultimate Edition was outselling the Standard Edition, although no specific figure was initially provided.
Sensor Tower's Karl Kontus stated premium editions typically perform strongly during the pre-order period because highly anticipated are more likely to buy premium variants that cost a heavy price.
However, he noted that a figure approaching 90% is highly unusual, with premium editions typically accounting for only 10% to 20% of sales.
GTA 6 pre-orders and sales expectations
It is pertinent to mention that Sensors Tower reportedly projected that GTA 6 has already earned 4.3 million pre-orders.
Based on the company’s typical industry sales pattern, that figure could possibly translate into 40 million copies sold by launch, although GTA 6’s unprecedented demand makes such projections uncertain.
