Donald Trump ally Beth Van Duyne has shared unexpected take on Sydney Sweeny’s “hypersexualized” sports ad campaign after intense backlash.
Talking to TMZ, the Republican leader defended the actress over “naked” sports betting ad campaign with shocking comments.
Duyne says anyone who is ripping Sydney Sweeney for stripping down to her birthday suit in some recent commercials is just jealous of her smoking hot body. She even claimed that if she had a body like her she would never cover up.
She said, “"If I looked anything like her naked, I don't know if I would ever wear clothes."
Sydney Sweeney receives intense backlash
Female athletes have reacted with anger and incredulity to a “hypersexualized” advertising campaign featuring a nude or minimally clad Sydney Sweeney posing with sports equipment.
Palmateer was one of many female athletes to criticize the campaign.
“Just absolute utter disbelief, incredibly disappointing, like, how far you can put women’s sports backwards in the space of a 42-second commercial,” she said to CNN, adding that the campaign “is very damaging, especially for young females getting into sport, for females in sport, for females in general, just hypersexualized content.”
“We want to be valued for what we can do, not what we look like,” Palmateer added.
British sprinter Amy Hunt also referenced the ad campaign in a post-race interview on Sunday.
“Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like,” Hunt told BBC Sport. “Muscles. Hard work. Sweat, blood, tears.”
Australian four-time Olympic swimmer Ariarne Titmus posted a response to the campaign on her Instagram Stories.
