Kim Kardashian was left stunned in Shanghai when a die-hard fan, who is also a fashion influencer, handed her a gold pen and asked her to sign his Birkin!

Fan asks for an autograph in the middle of a rare Birkin

While promoting the new NikeSKIMS pop-up in China, the reality TV star was asked for an autograph, but on a rare red crocodile Hermès Birkin, reportedly worth around $80,000.

Upon receiving the shocking request, Kim appeared hesitant and repeatedly asked the fan if he really wanted the signature on the bag before eventually signing the luxury handbag.

While signing the bag, Kim dubbed the action "blasphemous", as she gave the fan a hug and posed for photographs.

For the event, Kim stunned in a sculpted satin Carob Brown bodysuit from the new SKIMS collection.

She paired the look with an oversized tan leather trench coat, as she marked the brand's first physical destination in China.

The internet hails the fan as a 'wise man'

While the action received some backlash, as some netizens claimed that the signature "ruined" the luxury bag's value, many users thought otherwise.

One comment under the viral video noted, "That guy is smart. His birkin value skyrockets with Kim signature."

"He knows what he is doing. The value just went up. Wise man," another comment read.

The Shanghai pop-up at HKRI Taikoo Hui showcases NikeSKIMS' Fall Edit 01 collection and will remain open through February 2027.

About Hermès Birkin and its cost

The Hermès Birkin was created after a chance meeting between actress Jane Birkin and Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas. The bag was later named after Birkin and became one of the French fashion house's best-known designs.

Its price can vary widely depending on the leather, size, hardware and rarity. 

People reported in 2024 that Birkin bags can range from about $10,000 to as much as $2 million.

The 45-year-old was also spotted with Hermès Birkin 30 in Beton matte alligator leather, accented with polished gold hardware, in March of 2019 in Paris.

Kim has also been photographed with a rare Hermès Birkin 25 Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Diamond Encrusted Hardware during a soccer match in Osaka, Japan, in July 2023, which can be worth around $550,000.
