Tom Brady delivered one of the funniest moments of the NFL season on Sunday when he spoke with former teammate Mike Evans after a big performance.
Playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Evans caught seven passes for 113 yards and a touchdown in a 32-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks. The score moved the 49ers to 5-0.
Evans’ touchdown was the 111th of his career, tying Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for ninth place on the NFL’s all-time list.
Brady, calling the game for FOX, later named Evans his LFG Player of the Game. During their on-air chat, Brady praised Evans for playing through visible pain from a rib injury.
Brady’s playful reminder
Brady brought up their time together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2021, Evans caught Brady’s 600th career touchdown pass and immediately gave the ball to a fan in the stands without realizing how historic it was. The team later got the ball back.
“You had a great touchdown catch today, tying Tony Gonzalez,” Brady said. “I was actually going to come out of the booth and run down there and throw the ball into the stands, like you did with my 600th touchdown pass. So, you’re lucky I didn’t do that.”
