Sonya Curry, mother of Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, has quietly remarried. The 60-year-old shared the happy news on Instagram this week.

A fast new chapter

She married “the most amazing man” this past summer. The couple planned the entire wedding in just nine weeks. The ceremony took place at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort in Arizona.

Sonya wore a white Pnina Tornai gown with gold floral details. Guests included her sons Stephen and Seth Curry along with their wives Ayesha and Callie. The identity of her new husband has not been made public.

How they met

Sonya explained that the relationship began during a hard time. About a year ago her mother passed away unexpectedly. Around the same period, the man who is now her husband entered her life.

Eight months later she became his wife. She described the marriage as an answer to her prayers and a sign that God had seen her tears.

Looking back and moving forward

This is her second marriage. Sonya and former NBA player Dell Curry were married for 33 years before divorcing in 2021. They share three children: Steph, Seth and daughter Sydel.

In her post Sonya reflected on the past seven years and quoted the Bible, saying she had lived through every season of life. She encouraged others not to lose hope in their own prayers, whether for love or anything else.

Sonya turned off comments on her announcement. She later asked people to focus on the present instead of past divorce details. The family is moving forward and Sonya says it is never too late to find happiness.
