Manoj Bajpayee’s Ghooskhor Pandat has finally made a crucial decision for the movie following months-long controversy and legal row.

The movie, which sparked a massive outrage earlier this year over its title, has now been renamed Gajab Raat, with Netflix releasing its trailer and announcing the release date, Hindustan Times reported on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Back in February, the original title was hit with intense criticism, with objections raised over its alleged potential to hurt the sentiments of the Brahmin community, leading to a petition being filed in the Delhi High Court seeking to halt the film’s release.

In the filing, the petitioner argued that the title Ghooskhor Pandat linked the term “Pandat”, which is used to describe a learned scholar or priest in Hindu tradition, with corruption, harming the Brahmin community’s reputation, as the caste traditionally has the most number of pandats.

Taking to Instagram, Netflix dropped the movie’s trailer with a new title, writing, “Many stories, many characters and just one night to reveal the truth. Watch Gajab Raat, out 23rd October, only on Netflix."

The preview shows Bajpayee as a cop caught between his own interests and his duty while investigating the case of a young girl left critically injured after being throne from a car.

Set over a single night, the film explores his struggle to decide whether to seek justice or manipulate the investigation for personal gain.
