PlayStation 6 is likely to hit $1,000, raising concerns among gaming enthusiasts regarding the soaring prices of console gaming and prompting some to consider switching to gaming PCs.

PS 6 new prices to push gamers away from console

As per a report by ScreenRant published on October 17, industry analysts believe Sony's next-generation console could release at an increased rate in contrast to its predecessor.

However, Sony has yet to officially announce the PS6's price.

The concerns come as Sony's current consoles have become more expensive. ScreenRant reported that the PlayStation 5 Pro now costs $899.99, while the standard PS5 is priced at $599.99 following recent price increases.

Industry researcher Joost van Dreunen told GamesRadar that the top notch consoles could release at prices around 50% higher than those of the current generation.

He stated, We're quickly moving towards a world in which a $1,000 console will be the norm, and console gaming will become a luxury expenditure."

“They really don't want to raise prices on their hardware, because that part is usually a heavily subsidized part of the equation and the sale of games is the gravity point of their revenue model. I predict that the next generation of console hardware will start at a 50% higher price point than the current one did.”

Circana analyst Mat Piscatella also said that a $1,000 price tag was possible, although he expressed concern about the prospect.

The potential price hike of PS 6 has sparked debate among gamers, with some stating they would continue using their existing consoles instead of paying $1,000 for new hardware.
