The Milwaukee Brewers are headed to the World Series for the first time since 1982 after completing a stunning four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2026 National League Championship Series.

On Thursday night at Dodger Stadium, the Brewers rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win Game 4 by a score of 6-4. Shohei Ohtani gave the Dodgers an early boost with a three-run home run in the second inning, his first of the postseason. Milwaukee answered quickly.

Jake Bauers sparked the comeback with a two-run double in the fourth and later drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game in the fifth. Garrett Mitchell then delivered the go-ahead solo home run in the sixth off Tanner Scott. David Hamilton added insurance with a solo shot in the ninth.

Brewers’ bullpen holds firm late

The Brewers’ relief corps shut down the Dodgers after the early deficit. JoJo Romero and Aaron Ashby combined for scoreless innings down the stretch, stranding multiple runners in scoring position as Los Angeles failed to push across the tying run.

Jake Bauers named NLCS MVP

Bauers earned NLCS Most Valuable Player honors after driving in six runs across the series including key contributions in the decisive Game 4.

The Brewers out-homered the power-hitting Dodgers 8-1 over the four games and became the first team in MLB history to sweep the same opponent that had swept them the previous postseason.

This marks Milwaukee’s first National League pennant. The franchise last reached the Fall Classic in 1982 as an American League team, falling to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

The Brewers finished the regular season with a league-best 103 wins and will host Game 1 of the World Series on October 23 at American Family Field against the winner of the ongoing ALCS between the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays.

The two-time defending champion Dodgers’ bid for a historic three-peat is over.
