Jihyo's JYP Entertainment chapter has finally come to an end!
TWICE's front singer announced her split from the major South Korean multinational entertainment company and record label in a long statement on her Instagram account.
On Wednesday, October 21st, the 29-year-old singer confirmed that she will no longer be associated with JYP and has ended ties with the record label after 21 years.
She posted a heartwarming handwritten letter before she revealed the real reason for parting ways with one of the K-pop agencies, where she spent most of her childhood and teenage years.
"Good afternoon. This is Jihyo. I'm leaving a post because I have some news to tell you. I have come to the end of my journey with JYP, who has been with me for 21 years since childhood," Jihyo shared.
The popular K-pop star, who is known as Park Ji-hyo commonly, further explained that the decision was not as "easy as" she thought to be.
While summarising her long journey, she admitted that there were "bad days and good days" throughout her journey, "but it's clear that all those times have made me who I am."
Before concluding her statement, Jihyo thanked her fans and JYP members, "who have been with me for a long time and helped me grow. I will long remember the times and hearts we shared together."
Jihyo's new endevour
As she tightens her lips over the real reason for leaving JYP Entertainment, the leading singer of TWICE also revealed that she has launched her own agency, EMITHAUS, "as the first step in that process."
How did TWICE form?
For those unfamiliar, TWICE, which has nine members, including Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu, was formed in July 2015 through the JYP Entertainment survival reality show Sixteen.
They made their official music debut a few months later on October 20th, 2015.
