US President Joe Biden warned Israel that the US would halt some of its arms supplies if Israel invaded southern Gaza city, Rafah.

In an exclusive interview with CNN on Wednesday, May 8, Biden said, “I made it clear that if they go into Rafah, they haven’t gone in Rafah yet. If they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities that deal with that problem.”

Referring to the bomb shipment paused last week, Biden asserted, “Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centres.”

However, he assured that “We’re not walking away from Israel’s security. We’re walking away from Israel’s ability to wage war in those areas. We’re going to continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks that came out of the Middle East recently.”

Meanwhile, as per BBC, the Israeli military has said that the two countries will resolve disagreements ‘behind closed doors.’

Additionally, Biden also acknowledged that US weapons had been used by Israel to kill civilians in Gaza, while when he was asked if Israel had crossed a ‘red line,’ Biden replied ‘not yet.’
