A devastating explosion followed by a raging fire has struck a chemical factory in Thane's Dombiwali, near Mumbai on Thursday.
According to officials, the fire erupted after a boiler inside the chemical factory, located in MIDC Phase 2, exploded.
Reports indicate that six people have tragically lost their lives, with over 25 individuals sustaining injuries in the massive blast.
While, eyewitnesses reported hearing three consecutive blasts at the factory.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, confirmed that at least eight people have been rescued from the site of the disaster.
He said, "The incident of a boiler explosion at Amudan Chemical Company in Dombivli MIDC is tragic. Eight people involved in this incident have been rescued. Arrangements have been made to treat the injured and more ambulances have been kept ready."
Deputy Chief Minister added, "I have discussed this with the collector and they are reaching the spot within 10 minutes. Teams of NDRF, TDRF, and fire brigade have been called."
Fadnavis further added, "I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured."
Moreover, a distress call was made around 1:40 pm. The impact of the blast was so severe that it shattered windows in nearby houses.
Meanwhile, the fire has spread to two other buildings including a car showroom.
