The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Panorama Produce has officially recalled 302 boxes of mangoes, citing Salmonella contamination concerns.
The recalled mangoes were sold at select Walmart stores and distributed across Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The FDA stated no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products so far.
The recall was initiated after federal after federal testing identified Salmonella in mangoes grown on the same farm as the recalled fruit.
The mangoes that tested positive remained undistributed across the USA.
The affected products are packaged in Martina-branded cases. Individual mangoes can easily be detected by a light blue sticker displaying the Agrofepac label, “Produce of Mexico,” PLU number 4584 and UPC 07503061948050.
Consumers who bought mangoes matching these detectors are strongly recommended to check whether their products are included in the recall. People who have already bought the recalled fruit item are urged to avoid consuming them or return them to the store where they were purchased.
Furthermore, the FDA advises buyers who believe they may have sickened after taking the recalled product to contact a healthcare professional.
