World Central Kitchen (WCK) on Sunday, April 28, announced that it will resume its aid operation in Gaza from Monday.

According to The Washington Post, in an announcement sent to media WCK said that it is resuming humanitarian aid work in Gaza from Monday.

Erin Gore, the chief executive officer of WCK, said, “The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire. We are restarting our operation with the same energy, dignity, and focus on feeding as many people as possible.”

Moreover, the chief communications officer for the non-profit organization, Linda Roth, told The Washington Post, “The majority of our Gaza operation has always been Palestinians feeding Palestinians. Our model, as you know, is one of community engagement. We have hundreds of Palestinians employed as contractors and hundreds more volunteering. They want to get back to work.”

As per WCK's statement on Sunday, 276 trucks carrying the equivalent of 8 million meals are ready to enter Gaza.

Additionally, the organization is also looking to send more aid via boast with the help of the United Arab Emirates and Open Arms, a Spanish humanitarian group.

For the unversed, the World Central Kitchen suspended its aid operation in Gaza after its seven workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike late on April 1.

The organization said in a statement that before suspending aid work on April 1, WCK has distributed more than 43 million meals in Gaza, and accounted for 62 of all international NGO aid.
