The US military finished the construction of the floating pier for aid to the Gaza Strip on Thursday.

The officials said the floating pier is ready to begin ferrying badly needed humanitarian aid to Gaza, AP News reported.

As per the Pentagon, officially, the war in Gaza was not threatening the new shoreline aid distribution areas; however, they have already made this clear, but security conditions will be monitored closely.

Navy Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, a deputy commander at the U.S. military’s Central Command, said, “Protection of U.S. forces participating is a top priority. And as such, in the last several weeks, the United States and Israel have developed an integrated security plan to protect all the personnel.”

He furthered, “We are confident in the ability of this security arrangement to protect those involved.”

The commander informed, “Trucks carrying humanitarian assistance are expected to begin moving ashore in the coming days. The United Nations will receive the aid and coordinate its distribution into Gaza.”

The Israeli military has also worked with the US in the construction of the pier.

Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani also confirmed, “We have been working for months on full cooperation with (the U.S. military) on this project, facilitating it, supporting it in any way possible. It’s a top priority in our operation.”
