Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in France on Sunday for a visit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

As reported by multiple outlets, Macron will talk to Xi on issues including Ukraine and trade.

Xi's arrival in France, marking 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries, marked the beginning of his first trip to Europe since 2019.

However, this trip will also include visits to Serbia and Hungary.

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said the plane carrying Xi had touched down in Paris.

Meanwhile, the leader of China, arrived with his wife Peng Liyuan, was to be welcomed at Paris Orly airport by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

On Monday, Xi is scheduled to engage in discussions in Paris, which will also involve EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, followed by a state banquet hosted by Macron.

While, on Tuesday, Macron will accompany Xi to the Pyrenees mountains, an area he used to visit as a boy for a day of less public and more intimate talks.

Moreover, Macron's primary focus will be cautioning Xi about the risks of supporting Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, particularly as Western officials are worried about Moscow's potential use of Chinese machine tools in arms manufacturing.
