Bodies of American and Australian tourist surfers are found in north-west Mexico’s well with gunshot wounds to the head.

According to BBC, the Mexican authorities confirmed on May 5 that the Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, 30 and 33, with their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, disappeared on April 27 while on a surfing trip in Ensenada.

As per the authorities, their bodies were found dumped in a 4m (15ft) deep well about 6km (4 miles) from the site of the attack in the town of Santo Tomas on Friday, and the relatives of the tourists identified their bodies on Sunday.

Moreover, abandoned tents, a burnt white pickup truck and a phone linked to the missing surfers were found nearby.

Baja California state prosecutor Maria Andrade Ramirez suggested that the attackers wanted the vehicles for their tyres and shot the tourists when they resisted.

Mexico’s Foreign Ministry expressed its condolences in a statement saying, “The Foreign Ministry stands in solidarity with the families of the victims in this tragic event and deeply regrets the outcome of the events.”

Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers in a news conference on Sunday said that the country was thinking of the Robinson family.

Chalmers further added, “It has been an absolutely horrendous, absolutely horrific ordeal, and our thoughts are with all of them today.”
