Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s widow, Tenisha Warner, has publicly spoken for the first time since the death of The Cosby Show star in July.
The 54-year-old star drowned in a pool while swimming with 8-year-old daughter when he was swept away by a strong current, with asphyxia as the cause of death.
Taking to Instagram, Tenisha, paid tribute to her deceased husband by sharing a wedding photo with a heartwarming note ahead of their wedding anniversary.
Tenisha penned, “Tomorrow marks our anniversary — and my heart is wide open.”
She continued, “For the first time, I’m sharing a glimpse of the love that began it all. I can still hear my husband’s laugh and feel the way he made room for every part of me — every tear, every dream.”
Tenisha announced that she and their daughter are launching River & Ember and The Warner Family Foundation, aimed at nurturing children’s creativity and assisting families navigate the challenging and emotional moments.
While explaining the motive of their company, she wrote, “My husband believed deeply in tending to the inner light in children and in ourselves. This company carries that belief forward, offering stories and rituals that honor the quiet power of connection between parent and child.”
Warner, known for portraying many iconic roles as Theo Huxtable, valued his privacy and always kept the details about his family under wraps.
Tenisha ended her tribute, writing, “This is love, still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward.”
Famous celebrities such as Emily VanCamp and Anuja Joshi flocked to the comments to offer prayers and support to the family.
Emily VanCamp wrote, “Sending you and your beautiful girl all the love. What a beautiful tribute and we are here for you.”
Sending you so much love Tenisha. Holding you and your daughter close in prayer, Anuja Joshi wrote.
