Kuwait reported an attack on an electricity generation and water desalination plant during the early hours of Friday, impacting some parts of the facility.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy stated that the incident happened at dawn on April 3, when a site was damaged in Iranian strikes.

Following the strikes, technical and emergency teams immediately reached the site to manage the situation and initiate operations to secure the entire area, as per Ministry spokesperson Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat.

The incident occurred after a drone strike triggered some parts of Kuwait’s Mina Al-Ahmadi oil refinery, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said.

Emergency and firefighting teams immediately responded and carried out operations to take the situation under control to contain the blaze, the corporation told the Kuwait News Agency.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported and precautionary steps were taken to secure facilities.

Furthermore, the corporation said that it is currently coordinating with the Environment Public Authority to monitor air quality around the affected area.

It is pertinent to note that the region has been on high alert since the United States and Israel launched an air offensive on February 28, killing over 1,300 people so far, including former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, which triggered an intense situation.

Iran has retaliated with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel along with Jordan, Gulf countries and Iraq hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets.
