South Korean-based Canadian rap star Mark Lee has parted ways with NCT after a decade.

On Thursday, April 3rd, the popular music label and boy band revealed the reason behind the singer’s departure from the boy band.

"After a long period of careful and thoughtful discussion with Mark regarding his future activities, we have mutually agreed to conclude his exclusive contract as of April 8," they informed.

The statement continued, "Mark will conclude all activities as a member of NCT, including NCT 127 and NCT Dream. Since his debut with NCT in 2016."

They further recounted Mark’s "exceptional" singing and versatility in music.

"We are truly grateful for the time he spent with us, and we wholeheartedly support him as he begins a new chapter in his journey," they concluded.

As the musician, who last announced his new single alongside Lee Youngji in December last year, confirmed his departure from NCT, fans reacted to the devastating news, as several supported him in his decision, while many were heartbroken with the decision.

One fan noted, "I’ll always support you, just please don’t disappear."

"I’d be lying if I said I’m not shocked, and I’d be lying if I said I’m not sad. I’m actually crying right now. But I’ll still support you. I’m always with you. Love you," another wrote.

While a third commented, "Thank you for all your hard work! You inspire me every single day, and I know god has so many plans for you!! I'm grateful to have met you as a mark of NCT, but I can’t wait to continue to see you as you grow! Thank you for everything, Mark. Love ya."

For those unaware, Mark Lee initially gained fans' attention through his debut as a member of the K-pop group NCT in 2016.
