Police officers met a Delta Air Lines flight when it landed in Atlanta on Monday night. The law enforcement response happened after a brief disagreement broke out between a passenger and a crew member while the plane was in the air.

Details of the flight

Delta flight 2293 was traveling from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Boeing 737-900 aircraft had 180 passengers and four flight attendants on board during the trip.

What caused the dispute

Local police explained that a male flight attendant accidentally bumped a male passenger wearing headphones on the head. The passenger then tapped the flight attendant to inform him about the physical contact which triggered an argument between the two men.

No charges filed

Officers met the airplane right as it reached its gate to evaluate the situation.

Both individuals declined to press charges and decided to go their separate ways without further legal trouble.

Delta issues statement

Addressing the incident, “Delta has zero tolerance for disruptive or unruly behavior, especially when it impacts the safety of our people and our customers” Delta said in an official statement.

Airline representatives added, “We apologize to our customers for the disruption and will cooperate with law enforcement” confirming that safety remains their top priority during travel disruptions.
