Ranveer Singh’s Pralay has finally gone on floors!
On Sunday, August 16, Pinkvilla reported that the Dhurandhar star has kicked off filming for Jai Mehta’s zombie thriller movie in Mumbai after months of rumors and speculation over his casting.
The exciting project is set to star Kalyani Priyadarshan opposite Singh, with Jai Mehta – who previously helmed Lootere and co-directed Scam 1992: The Hansal Mehta Story – set to take the director’s chair.
It is worth noting that the upcoming film will mark a momentous milestone in both actors and the director’s careers as it will be their first time exploring different categories.
With Pralay, Ranveer Singh will mark his debut as a producer, Jai Mehta will make his feature film directorial debut, while for Kalyani Priyadarshan, the movie will be her debut in the Hindi film industry as she has worked in the Malayalam film industry until now.
As for production, the movie is backed by Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios, Singh’s Maa Kasam Films, and Hansal Mehta and Sahil Saigal’s True Story Films.
Moreover, the outlet also shared that the post-apocalyptic film is being made on a large scale, with an international technical team working on the project.
Ranveer Singh’s rumored exit from Pralay
The latest update about Pralay comes after months of speculation over Ranveer Singh’s exit from the project following the historic success of Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2.
Speculation began when a viral social media post claimed that the 39-year-old actor had left the film due to "creative differences" with director Jai Mehta.
The post, shared by Always Bollywood on Instagram, claimed that the Singham Again actor is eyeing a follow-up to Dhurandhar with another project by Aditya Dhar and has left the project.
However, an insider then told Variety India, “Reports suggesting any uncertainty around Pralay are completely baseless. Ranveer and Jai have been in continuous discussions and have firmly locked the script.”
The source further shed light, stating, “The project has already moved into pre-production, with the entire team actively gearing up to create a never-before-witnessed gigantic spectacle out of Indian cinema.”
It’s worth mentioning that Pralay focuses on survival in a ruined world overrun by zombies.
