YouTube Premium subscribers in multiple countries could soon face a significant price hike, just months after the service significantly increased rates across the USA.
A report suggested users across Europe indicate that Alphabet-owned Google is currently preparing to raise monthly subscription prices for both individual and family plans.
The reported changes vary by country, with some users already receiving emails notifying them of higher prices.
YouTube Premium prices hike
In Italy and Portugal, the individual plan in Italy and Portugal may see a price hike from €17.99 to €20.99 per month, while the family plan may see a rise to €29.99.
In Finland, users have reported being notified of a surge from €14.99 to €16.99 per month.
The reported increases come only months after YouTube raised Premium prices in the US in April, taking the individual subscription from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.
Notably, Google has yet to officially announce the price, and the latest reports are mainly focused on emails received by subscribers and discussions on Reddit and online forums.
The changes appear to be focused on European markets, where YouTube Premium prices have reportedly remained unchanged since 2024. It remains unclear whether the reported increases will eventually expand to other regions.
Despite a sudden rise, affected subscribers would still have YouTube Premium's existing benefits, including ad-free viewing, background playback, offline downloads and access to YouTube Music Premium.
The reported increases are expected to take effect in the near future.
