Michelle Obama turned heads in a striped Carolina Herrera dress that hung on to her with a single strap.

According to Reality Tea, the former First Lady wore the outfit to the Martha's Vineyard Author Series to promote her book "The Look" in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. Her dress blended classic resortwear with modern structure.

Michelle Obama’s dress steals the show

At the Martha's Vineyard Performing Arts Center, Michelle Obama took the stage in an ivory racing green striped dress.

The Carolina Herrera piece was from the Pre-Fall 2026 collection and is available for purchase at $2,390 on Nordstrom.

It began with a classic halter neckline that smoothly framed her shoulders and collarbone, flowing into a fitted bodice featuring horizontal, cross-chest striping. The halter strap secured behind her head with a hook back.

A solid green band cinched the dress at the waist before flowing down into a voluminous, pleated A-line skirt. The stripes changed direction here, as they ran vertically downwards through the midsection.

Finally, the skirt culminated in a wide horizontal striped hemline that grounded the overall architectural silhouette. The back of the dress featured a gold-toned metal zipper.

Obama's beauty and styling choices elevated the relaxed yet polished elegance of the look.

She wore her hair in micro-braids pulled up into a high, cascading ponytail that spilled loosely over her shoulders, with delicate tendrils softly framing her face.

Further, she kept her jewelry minimal, complementing her dress with silver ear cuffs and a few statement rings. Her glowing makeup palette warm bronzed tones, a defined eye, and a soft neutral lip.
