Iran is preparing a formal list of requirements to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to global shipping. Top security official Mohsen Rezaei confirmed in an interview that regional mediators asked Tehran to specify its demands.
Rezaei stated, “the conditions include ending the war in the region.” He added that “if the economic war continues, not a single drop of oil will be exported, neither through the Strait of Hormuz nor from anywhere in the Persian Gulf.”
Proposed Omani shipping route
Iran and neighboring Oman have reached a tentative agreement to set up a designated central channel spanning both Iranian and Omani waters. Rezaei explained that ships would transit through this specific corridor “if the United States meets Iran’s conditions.”
Joint mine-clearing operations are also planned to ensure safer transit for merchant vessels.
Washington enforces strict blockade
Despite regional diplomacy, the United States continues its military blockade in the area. Addressing reporters, US President Donald Trump stated, “The Strait of Hormuz is open. We have control and we have the blockade.”
He further asserted, “Iran’s not getting anything through. Nothing is getting through. Not one ship has gotten through.”
Regional mediators push for peace
Delegations from Qatar and Pakistan are shuttling across regional capitals to help restore dialogue. Qatari officials met Iranian leadership in Tehran to review de-escalation efforts.
They noted in a public statement that the talks aimed at “creating suitable conditions for the resumption of dialogue.”
