Gabriel Jesus: Barcelona set to sign Arsenal striker in shock €10 million deal

Barcelona has finally succeeded in snatching Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus in a €10 million deal.

FC Barcelona was first eyeing Julian Alvarez

The Catalans had been trying to sign an agreement with Julian Alvarez all summer; however, Atletico Madrid have made it clear they would not be selling their striker to Barcelona.

Alvarez was back in training with Atletico on Sunday, with reports suggesting that the 26-year-old is now aware he would be playing at Diego Simeone's side for the time being.

Gabriel Jesus deal with Barcelona

Fabrizio Romano reported that Barcelona has moved to secure a deal for Jesus for €10 million plus add-ons. Jesus is now due to have a medical with the Catalan on Monday.

Jesus has been linked with an exit after falling behind Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres in the pecking order in north London.

Arsenal coach on Gabriel Jesus exit

Mikel Arteta was asked about the future of Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli this week and hinted both players could leave.

"It's inevitable, at some point you need to have certain discussions and say certain things that sometimes are tough," he told the press.

Arteta added, "I think everybody knows and recognises how much we love Gabi (Martinelli). Whatever the outcome is, it will be because everybody agrees to that."

Gabriel Jesus run at Arsenal

Jesus first joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 for a £45 million fee.

He scored five goals in his first nine league appearances for Arsenal as they built a significant lead at the top of the table, but a drop in form and a long-term injury at the mid-season World Cup saw him fail to net again until April.
