South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) revealed that Kim Ju Ae, the daughter and apparent heir of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has a younger sibling whose gender remains undisclosed.

Intelligence officials confirmed that while the birth order within Pyongyang’s ruling family has long been shrouded in mystery, Kim Ju Ae is currently being actively groomed to take over leadership.

The agency is also investigating whether an older brother exists, though analysts note he holds no position in the succession line.

Public role signals changing succession dynamics

First introduced to the world during a 2022 intercontinental ballistic missile launch, Kim Ju Ae has steadily taken on a high-profile role alongside her father.

She routinely attends crucial state ceremonies, military parades and major diplomatic engagements.
