Hamilton has thrown his weight behind rapper Macklemore, after the artist was axed from Ed Sheeran's tour following pro-Palestinian comments made on stage.
Macklemore called for a 'free Palestine ' while supporting Sheeran in the United States and displayed footage of Gaza during performances in New Jersey.
Macklemore's public stance caused controversy, as the musician came under criticism from figures such as Pink.
She criticised the artist for standing in "front of a stadium full of music-loving families, with violent images from a war on the screens... then took the mic to tell all of the Jews in the stadium that it wasn't about them."
Robert Kraft, owner of the NFL's New England Patriots, prohibited Macklemore from appearing at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts.
It is alleged that the businessman, who had previously booked Sheeran to perform at his wedding, mobilised other stadium owners to issue an ultimatum that if Macklemore remained on tour, Sheeran would be barred from performing at their venues.
Sheeran said he engaged with venues all week to try and build a bridge, but “the venue's and promoter's decision was final.”
Consequently, Macklemore was removed from the tour, though numerous supporters have rallied behind him.
Sheeran's remaining opening acts and backing band have withdrawn, while Formula 1 star Hamilton has also voiced his backing.
"Thank you for using your voice, standing with you," the Ferrari star said on an Instagram post where Macklemore explained he had been taken off the tour.
Activist Greta Thunberg declared, "Full solidarity and free Palestine. Artists' very active silence in the face of injustice and genocide will not be forgotten."
Pop star Paloma Faith said, "You are a rare and important voice ... thank you for existing.... This is so articulate and so powerful. You are a hero."
In his statement confirming he had been removed from Sheeran's tour, Macklemore was keen to point out that neither he, Sheeran, nor outspoken critic Pink were the real victims.
The rapper also opened up about his close bond with Sheeran, acknowledging the awkward position his friend had been placed in.
