Sony has introduced two new wireless gaming headsets, the PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge, featuring planar magnetic drivers, PlayStation Link connectivity and multiple upgrades, which is particularly designed for PS5 and PlayStation Portal users.
The recently introduced headsets are part of Sony’s next generation of PlayStation audio products and are likely to replace the predecessors.
Both use planar magnetic drivers, a technology known to generate cleaner audio and minimize distortion.
Previously, Sony launched the Pulse Elite in 2024 after acquiring premium headphone manufacturer Audeze that specialise in planar magnetic audio.

The Pulse Edge is the more advanced model, featuring eight magnets that are designed to deliver deeper bass.
Additionally, it includes active noise cancellation, a detachable boom microphone with AI-improved noise rejection, built-in volume controls, a game audio and chat balance feature, a USB-C adapter and a carrying case.
The standard Pulse is placed as the more affordable option and uses four magnets.

Both headsets support PlayStation Link, letting low-latency wireless audio and easy switching between compatible devices, including PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac. Bluetooth connectivity is also supported.
The new models will be accessible in black and white and are likely to be released early next year. Sony has yet to officially announce the pricing for either headset.
The company says the new audio technology is designed to help players identify directional sounds, such as footsteps, more accurately during gameplay. Their native PlayStation Link support also allows them to connect with PlayStation Portal without requiring additional compatibility steps.
